Finding the best shampoo for eczema is incredibly important. If you read the ingredients to avoid in a shampoo page – you’ll now know that you want to choose a product that is natural, hypoallergenic and paraben-free, so that it does not aggravate your eczema. Not every scalp eczema shampoo will work the same for everyone. You may need to try several shampoos before you find one that works sufficiently for your needs.
Researching all natural and effective shampoos takes hours; I have selected a few below that are natural, effective, and chemical free (keep coming back as this list will be updated regularly). Remember that the best eczema shampoo will have ingredients that you can pronounce. You can the rating for how toxic your shampoo is at the Environmental Working Group’s Skin Deep site.
In some cases, I’ve included the eBay or Amazon link if the product appeals to you (and just in case you can’t buy it in your city at a place like Walmart). Some products are also cheaper on Amazon and eBay. You can also find these shampoo products in the Store section, along with a wider selection of products.
Botanical Skin Works Intensive Dandruff Shampoo
Note: I don’t recommend all anti-dandruff shampoos that claim to help dermatitis.
Even JASON Natural Cosmetics Dandruff Relief Shampoo, which claims to be all natural, contains benzyl benzoate (an additive and endocrine disruptor), benzyl alcohol and fragrance (causes organ toxicity and can irritate those with eczema), scores very high on the Environmental Working Group’s ranking for toxic chemicals in shampoo products.
Keys MetaClean Healing Soap & Shampoo
Keys MetaClean Healing Soap & Shampoo is rated by the Environmental Working Group as one of the safest medicated shampoos for eczema that exist on the market; it’s ingredients are so healing and natural that its toxicity levels are very low. In fact, it is rated 0 out of 10 and its ingredients are so pure that both animals and family members can all use it!
I have read really great reviews where it has stopped the scalp from itching. The only downside is that this product can’t be bought everywhere (it can be bought on Amazon, though), and the product is pricier and can range from $18-$19.95, depending where you buy it.
TheraNeem Gentle Therape Shampoo
The original TheraNeem Gentle Therape Shampoo with organic Neem oil, Neem leaf extract, chamomile, arnica, pine, basil, and cherry bark is especially formulated to clean gently and penetrate your scalp without harsh chemicals or soaps. Use TheraNeem Gentle Therape Conditioner to nourish the hair and scalp. This product has a low score of 2 out of 10 (in terms of how toxic the product is), on the Environmental Working Group website.
Organic Raw Shea Butter Moisture Retention Shampoo
Shea Moisture’s Organic Raw Shea Butter Moisture Retention Shampoo is filled with great reviews on how the shea butter shampoo is useful for repairing, strengthening, and helping hair re-growth. It contains argan oil and shea butter, which is incredibly natural and moisturizing to add luster and softness to your hair. It is definitely a best shampoo for eczema on scalp that is rated 1 out of 10 in terms of being low in toxicity, according to the Environmental Working Group.
Seaweed Bath Co. – Wildly Natural Seaweed Argan Shampoo
Wildly Natural Seaweed Argan Shampoo combines the natural nourishing properties of seaweed extract with soothing Moroccan Argan Oil and Vitamin E to gently cleanse and moisturize your hair and scalp. Argan Oil, rich in oleic, linoleic and linolenic acids, is a potent natural moisturizer that helps soothe your irritated skin, while the fresh scent of lavender invigorates your senses and helps to improve your mood and energy level. This product is specifically designed to improve the condition of red skin, dry skin, flaking skin, and scaling skin.

Hello doll! But what is your favorite shampoo? Which one do you use the most? And also any conditioners or hair masks that don’t break you out? I am on a hunt. xoxo
Hi,
I want to ask for your permission to use your first picture, the green background shampoos 🙂 I like it a lot.
thx
No problem!
For awhile now I’ve wanted to switch to an all natural shampoo, because the sulphates and other chemicals have been making my scalp itchy. However all of the “organic/earth friendly” products I’ve tried left me hair either dry, unclean or a complete tangled mess. After doing some research The Somaluxe Clarifying Shampoo came highly recommended for being earth and hair friendly. The shampoo rinsed clean leaving my hair soft and nourished. I followed up with the Somaluxe Conditioner. Both products left my hair looking and feeling healthier. Great! Natural ingredients that really work. They really are an outstanding value.
Hello! One of the ingredients in Theraneem’s Gentle Shampoo is a foremeldehype releaser – Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate, which created huge reactions on my scalp. Another ingredient – Phenoxyethanol – in the conditioner is a known skin irritant restricted in Japan and Europe and also caused immense reactions in my scalp. Initially, I didn’t know, and the allergic reactions were masked by how moisturizing the products felt on my previously extremely dry scalp. After a month of use, My scalp became increasingly, unbearably itchy. I just want to warn all potential users. I will post the above on Amazon.com to warn others.
