If you’re serious about your health, than you need to be serious about cooking. We all know that cooking from a dirty, rusty, “non-stick” frying pan will not produce the same results as a Le Creuset cast iron skillet. From time to time we’ll review some of the hottest new kitchen tools & appliances, and give you our thoughts on the items as compared to others on the market. This section is all about reviews so that you can make informed decisions in your purchases.
Blenders

There’s been a rapid introduction of new blenders into the market recently. Sometimes they’re introduced as Juicers, or Extractors, but they all essentially do the same thing (there is a slight difference between blenders and juicers – but extractors is just a new marketing gimmick from what I know).
Here’s a quick checklist for you to choosing a good blender:
- Are the blades thick? The thicker they are, the less likely they are to warp over time
- Is the container made out of glass or plastic? Glass can withstand hot liquid such as soups
- How many teeth connect the motor to the blade? The more the better – simply because the power is being distributed more evenly to the blade mechanisms
- Are there ridges in the container? The container should not be a perfect cylinder, but rather have ‘bumps’ to improve mixing
- Does the lid fit on tightly?
- Finally, if you can’t remember all the above, just remember to check the weight. The heavier it is, generally, the better it is (no one pays extra weight for shipping unless there is good reason to!)
We’ve done quite a few reviews on blenders recently. Here they are:
