Below is a post for all the lovely parents out there who have kids (or know babies) who are going through eczema.
My lovely friend, Krisha, did a guest post to review the Bamboo Bubby Sleep Sack from Baby Dreamtime. (Pssst – if you’re an adult and looking for a similar product, check out adult PJ’s, which I will be reviewing sometime this year).

My 15 month old son has eczema and despite trying nearly everything under the sun, it’s been a hard journey for us to discover root cause and help him recover his immune system so he can start to heal. It started when breastfeeding failed despite my best efforts and I was forced to use formula.
I have tried almost every single remedy out there on the market and have worked closely with an ND to try to get him the right homeopathic and supplement remedies so that he can heal from the inside out. It’s been a long journey and some days are better than others, but at least we are trying to comfort him in every way possible. So when I found out there was a sleep sack designed for babies/toddlers with eczema I was like “sign me up!”
I was given the opportunity to review the Bamboo Bubby Sleep Sack, originally from Australia, specifically designed for babies with eczema. It’s made with a cotton and bamboo blend which in itself is beneficial to babies’ sensitive skin, being low abrasive, breathable and it wicks away moisture. It comes in different colours such as sage green, fuchsia pink, and turquoise blue. Valerie Chatfield from Baby Dreamtime supplied it to me, and the sack is available for purchase (from the US) on her site. It retails for $79.95 US.
It’s different than most sleep sacks in the sense that it has no holes for their little hands to poke through and scratch. They call it their Adjust-a-Sleeve design that covers their hands completely, eliminating nighttime scratching sessions. My son was scratching so much overnight that he’d wake in the morning with welts on his back and blood under his fingernails.
Since using the sleep sack because his hands are completely covered he can no longer scratch himself silly. He also started to sleep through the night for the first time in, well, ever. It’s a very large sleep sack, but that’s because it’s designed to last from infancy to toddlerhood eliminating the need to continue to buy sleep sacks over and over again like you need to with traditional ones. It also has a seatbelt slot so the baby can wear it in the car or stroller.

It’s not only for eczema though, it can help with other issues such as thumb sucking, hair pulling, temperature regulation, and overall better sleep. As soon as my son sees me pull out the sack he knows it’s bed time.
I would definitely recommend this sleep sack for babies who suffer since nighttime scratching is something we wouldn’t be able to avoid for them unless we slept with them all night long and constantly monitored their movements – which for most mommies and daddies isn’t a reality. It’s comfortable, safe and breathable – perfect conditions for a restful night’s sleep.
