Choosing the right shampoo product for your baby is incredibly important; it can become a very daunting task – especially when you want the best for your baby. You don’t want any ingredients that are “junk” to your baby’s body – especially since many babies are already born with over 200 chemicals when they come out of the womb.
Please note that researching these ingredients and products has taken an enormous amount of time (hours, at the least). I have specifically chosen these ones because they have the cleanest, purest ingredients – free of parabens, petrolatum, and other chemicals. Below are a few handpicked selections that are natural and will help soothe your child’s eczema. I’ve also included the eBay or Amazon link in case the product appeals to you, and if you can’t buy it in your country or city (some products are also cheaper on those sites).

You will notice that the products I recommend aren’t always mainstream – such as Johnson & Johnson and Dove. Many of the mainstream products use chemicals and their ingredients are often lower in quality (which is why they are cheaper). Look at Dove’s ingredient list and you’ll notice it’s all chemicals that you can’t pronounce. A great shampoo or product will have ingredients that you can pronounce.
Below are a few great products that I have selected. Many more exist out there – but make sure to read the ingredient list. If you ever need more info – check the Environmental Working Group site to see how your shampoo or product ranks in terms of toxins and chemicals.
Nature’s Paradise – Baby Organic 2 in 1 Coconut Foam Shampoo & Body Wash
This is rated as the #1 safest shampoo and body wash product for babies to use on the Skin Deep Database, as provided by the Environmental Working Group (EWG). It’s main ingredients include water, organic saponified coconut oil, and organic coconut extract – which contains nutritional qualities for the skin.

According to EWG, none of their ingredients are a concern for toxicity, and they use organic ingredients. It is important to note, however, that this soap is not tear free because they do not add “numbing” chemicals to numb the eyes. However, it is very easy to keep it out of baby’s eyes by simply tilting the baby’s head back or closing their eyes. This soap costs approximately $14-15, depending on where you order it.
Babo Botanicals – Oatmilk Calendula Moisturizing Baby Shampoo
This shampoo is excellent; it is made entirely on a certified organic farm and contains extra gentle, plant-based ingredients to soothe and nourish a baby’s sensitive or dry, eczema-prone skin. It also contains Oatmilk and Calendula Oil to help comfort and soothe eczema, cradle cap, or dry patches. It also contains organic nutri-soothe blend of rich vitamins, anti-inflammatories and antioxidants, including chamomile, watercress, kudzu and calendula.
I recommend this product because it is very natural and made from a facility that sources high quality botanicals from around the world – while also emphasizing fair trade to support local industries. This company also focuses on making products in small batches to ensure attention to detail and highest quality assurance.
Mommy Care’s – All Natural Organic Baby Hair Care Shampoo
This is an all natural hypoallergenic organic and tear-free shampoo. It is slightly pricier at $17.99 for a 15 oz bottle, but it is helpful for baby eczema or as a Atopic Dermatitis treatment. It contains high quality ingredients, such as organic Chamomile, organic Calendula, pure organic Lavender oil, organic Aloe, organic Rosemary oil and dead sea minerals – all which are soothing and healing for dermatitis. Most importantly, it is paraben free, sodium laurel sulphate free, and artificial fragrance free – which means that it will not irritate your baby’s eczema.
It’s a natural, safe and gentle shampoo for babies. Tip: a real organic shampoo is more fluid than non-organic shampoos. (You can also buy this product along with a All Natural Organic Baby Body Bath Wash Soap to complement it).
It’s actually a nice and useful piece of information.

Thanks for sharing your opinion, and that I truly agree. We should be really careful with choosing the right shampoo and baby products for our babies. I have had bad experiences with highly commercialized shampoos in the market. And I now use organic baby shampoo like Gaia Organics Shampoo For Kids & Body Wash. It’s hypoallergenic and has tear-free formula. I never have to worry about Eczema and dry skin.
My new born has eczema a year ago when he was first born – I used the Made from Earth Valencia Orange lotion on it – its super gentle, and my baby has sensitive skin, and i worked well on his eczema. He had another breakout 6 months later, but we just applied the Made from Earth again, and it was gone in a week. Hope this helps!
