Do you ever wonder if you’re making mistakes in your healing journey?
While there’s no “one-size-fits-all” approach to healing your skin, I’ve come across many common missteps that often holds people back from effective healing. I made some of these same mistakes early in my healing journey, too!
Let’s talk about six common mistakes that can sometimes be overlooked in the eczema healing process.
Let’s jump right in:
- Neglecting oral health: Did you know there’s a surprising link between dental health and eczema? Emerging studies highlight connections between dental infections, childhood tooth decay, and eczema. Dive into insightful episodes on our @eczemapodcast where experts from @blodgettdentalcare and @askthedentist shed light on this crucial aspect.
- Solely relying on creams: While creams can be lifesavers for some, it’s essential to recognize that not everyone experiences complete relief through topical solutions alone. Often, addressing the root causes within the body is key to achieving balanced, healthy skin.
- Overlooking skin pH levels: Did you know that your skin’s pH takes time to rebalance after a shower? Up to six hours, according to this research. It can help to use an acidic topical spray on your skin immediately after showering to help bring it back to normal. Some of my favorites are: hypochlorous acid, hydrosols, aloe vera, or apple cider vinegar diluted 1:1 with water.
- Relying on diet changes alone: While dietary adjustments are vital, let’s remember that the road to recovery encompasses more than just what’s on our plates. Exploring various underlying factors is crucial for comprehensive healing.
- Not testing for root causes: Our bodies are unique, and that means our root causes are all different. We cannot treat everyone the same, so it’s crucial to conduct proper testing to determine what’s happening inside your body. Treatment should always be tailored and customized based on concrete test results.
- Not nurturing digestion & gut health: A harmonious gut can significantly impact your skin’s well-being. Remember, a substantial portion of your immune system resides in your gut. Prioritizing digestion health can often lead to remarkable improvements in your eczema journey.
